The Brave New World movie poster is finally out and it's making a buzz!

Movie Soundtrack

Some big news has arrived, the soundtrack of the upcoming blockbuster Brave New World has been released!

1. Soma- the Strokes
This song is supposed to help introduce the wonders of Soma to the audience. The song will be played when Mustapha Mond explains the origins of Soma to the students. This is during chapter three where the point of view constantly switches between Mustapha and Bernard Marx. The effect that is hoped to be achieved by using this song is to lighten the mood when talking about soma. Soma is meant to be the perfect drug which makes everything happy so it is fitting to use an upbeat song.

Lyrics: Soma is what they would take when
Hard times opened their eyes
Saw pain in a new way
High stakes for a few names
Racing against sun beams
Losing against fig trees
In your eyes

And I am
Stop
And go
In your eyes
See I am
Stop
And go
In your eyes

Let's go

When I saw her for the first time
Lips moved as her eyes closed
Heard something in his voice
"And I'll be there", he says
Then he walks out
Somehow he was trying
Too hard to be like them

Well I am
Stop
And go
In your eyes
And I am
Stop
Oh, darling, let me go

Tried it once and they like it
Then tried to hide it
Says, "I've been doing this 25 years"
But I'm not listening no more
And these friends, they keep asking for more
Oh, yeah
Oh, but that's it

2.  Pieces- Sum 41

Shortly after being ignored by the Delta-Minuses that were supposed to have helped Bernard, he begins to think of himself of the mockery he receives from people. This song will be played right when he beings to think to himself in a hope to make the audience feel his pain as well. The audiences will hopefully being to feel bad for him.

I tried to be perfect
Lyrics:
But nothing was worth it
I don't believe it makes me real
I thought it'd be easy
But no one believes me
I meant all the things I said

If you believe it's in my soul
I'd say all the words that I know
Just to see if it would show
That I'm trying to let you know
That I'm better off on my own

This place is so empty
My thoughts are so tempting
I don't know how it got so bad
Sometimes it's so crazy
That nothing can save me
But it's the only thing that I have

If you believe it's in my soul
I'd say all the words that I know
Just to see if it would show
That I'm trying to let you know
That I'm better off on my own

On my own

I tried to be perfect
It just wasn't worth it
Nothing could ever be so wrong
It's hard to believe me
It never gets easy
I guess I knew that all along

If you believe it's in my soul
I'd say all the words that I know
Just to see if it would show
That I'm trying to let you know
That I'm better off on my own

3. Everybody Must Get Stoned - Bob Dylan

Like the others, this song is meant to represent a change of atmosphere. During the scene where Bernard goes to the Fordson Community Singery for his Orgy this song will be played. It will be used because before the orgy, everyone there must be under the influence of soma. That’s why the song everyone MUST get stoned is a perfect fit.

They'll stone you when you're trying to be so goodLyrics:
They'll stone you just like they said they would
They'll stone you when you're trying to go home
They'll stone you when you're there all alone
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned

They'll stone you when you're walking on the street
They'll stone you when you're trying to keep your seat
They'll stone you when your walking on the floor
They'll stone you when your walking to the door
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned

They'll stone you when you're at the breakfast table
They'll stone you when you are young and able
They'll stone you when you're trying to make a buck
They'll stone you and then they'll say good luck
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned

Well They'll stone you and say that it's the end
They'll stone you and then they'll come back again
They'll stone you when you're riding in your car
They'll stone you when you're playing you guitar
Yes But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned
Alright

Well They'll stone you when you are all alone
They'll stone you when you are walking home
They'll stone you and then say they're all brave
They'll stone you when you're send down in your grave
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned

4. Solomon Vandy - James Newton Howard

This song was chosen to let the watchers know that there is going to be a dramatic change in scenery. The movie will be moving from the civilized world state to the reservation. Viewers are supposed to feel that the movie has become more mysterious and possibly dangerous.

5. Sad Romance - Thao Xanh Nguyen
This song will be played twice in the movie. Once when John witnesses his mother’s death and again when John is found dead. The song was chosen because it sets the mood perfectly. The goal is to both make the audiences feel sorry for John and also help them feel John’s pain. The sad music greatly enhances the movie experience.

Cast List

The cast for the upcoming Brave New World movie has officially been announced!

Bernard Marx- Steve Carell
Bernard is described as an awkward man that doesn’t quite fit in with the community. Steve Carell would be perfect for this role because of his past role playing Michael Scott in the Office. Steve’s character in that was  also a social awkward and was often seen as an outsider in social situation.
“He’s so ugly and so small. They say somebody made a mistake when he was still in the bottle-thought he was a Gamma and put alcohol in his blood-surrogate” (Orwell, 47).

The D.H.C.-Michael Bay
Who better to play a director than another director? Michael Bay the director of many movies like Pearl Harbour and Armageddon fits the description of the director perfectly and because of that would be perfect for the role.

“He had a long chin and big, rather prominent teeth, just covered, when he was not taking, by his full floridly curvy lips. Old, young? Thirty? Fifty? Fifty-five? It was hard to say” (Orwell, 16).

Lenina Crowne- Rossie Huntington
Lennina is the blond hair blue eyed female lead for the film and because of Rossie Huntington’s performance in Transformers 3, she is the best choice out there to play Lennina.
“She’s a spending girl. Wonderfully pneumatic. I'm surprised you haven’t had her" (Orwell, 45).

Mustapha Mond-Robert Downey Jr
Robert Downey Jr. fits the physical description well and will be a great fit for the role.

“a man of middle height, black haired, with a hooked nose, full red lips, eyes very piercing and dark” (Orwell, 37).

Pope- Terry Crews
Pope is described as a big man and is dark skinned. During the scene in which Pope enters John’s house and rips him away from his mother he is portrayed as big and powerful. Terry Crews has played in many roles in which he is a man who commands a lot of physical power and because of this he was selected to play Pope.

“A man was standing by the bed, enormous, frightening” (Orwell, 103).

Helmholtz- Bradley Cooper
Helmholtz is a ladies man who is very successful. Bradley Cooper would be great for this role because he fits the physical description and can meet the personality traits as well.
“He was a powerfully built man, deep-chested, broad shouldered, massive, and yet quick in his movements, springy and agile” (Orwell, 61)

John Then Savage- Taylor Lautner
John’s character is supposed to be a savage meaning his character should seem a bit untamed. Taylor Lautner’s role in the twighlight series as a werewolf will have given him experience in playing a role in which he would need to be in touch with his .
“Such a nice looking boy and a really beautiful body” (Orwell, 99).
